Navigate challenging waters with finesse through the Close Quarter Course at Maine Boating Academy!
Our on-water boating instruction session aboard your boat or ours. Leaving or returning to the dock is often high stress. Gain confidence and be comfortable operating in close proximity of boats, docks, and in congested areas. This on the water, powerboat course, is delivered by understanding the effects of weather on a boat, boat physics, and boat operation in confined areas. During this is 3-hour on the water powerboat instruction course, our fully insured, licensed U.S. Coast Guard Captains will guide you through different techniques.
Instruction takes place on our 24′ Sea Fox 249 Avenger training vessel.

Insurance policy
For all trainings and Captain for Hire services on customer boats, proof of vessel liability insurance must be provided prior to the training.
Cancellation policy
Maine Boating Academy reserves the right to cancel training due to Captain availability, boat availability, weather, or circumstances outside our control. Training or services will be rescheduled, or a credit will be issued.
Weather canceled training or Captain for hire service
Training and Captain for hire services are held rain or shine. Training or services may be canceled by the Training Captain or Maine Boating Academy if the weather is deemed unsafe or not conducive. Weather canceled training or services will be rescheduled or a credit will be issued.
Client canceled training or Captain for hire service
If client provides more than 48 hours notice, Maine Boating Academy will reschedule your training, issue a credit/refund minus a $100 non-refundable rescheduling fee. There are no refunds for cancellation notices 48 hours or less or for no shows.
Travel policy
For courses when our Training Captains come to you, free 1-hour round trip from Yarmouth, Maine included in cost of course. Additional travel is billed at $100.00 per hour / 30 min increments. Additional travel and gas charges may apply depending on location of training.
