This training was exactly what we needed!

Captain Derek met us for the launch into our first trip and helped us with river navigation, reading charts, man overboard drills, and mooring. Four packed hours of training that set our summer up for success. We were so happy with the skills that we grabbed another four hour training session and worked on marina docking, anchoring, and open ocean skills.

Derek taught me boater awareness, how to read the current, tides and wind and how to boat in close quarters. Most importantly, Derek helped me to learn to remain calm getting in and out of my slip at the marina and docking at the Island dock. Derek’s training made my boating season enjoyable by helping to reduce my anxiety. Derek is smart, experienced, patient, understanding and responsive.

Derrick was very knowledgeable, and obviously experienced after 20 years serving us in the Coast Guard. What was less expected was his incredibly patience and encouragement. I chose the intermediate session; and got so much out of the close quarter maneuvering lesson that I'm going to enlist him again to do the advanced open water training.
